An $n$-in-a-row Type Game
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider a Maker-Breaker type game on the square grid, in which each player takes t points on their tth turn. Maker wins if he obtains n points on a line (in any direction) without any of Breaker’s points between them. We show that, despite Maker’s apparent advantage, Breaker can prevent Maker from winning until about his nth turn. We actually prove a stronger result: Breaker only needs to claim ω(log t) points on his tth turn to prevent Maker from winning until this time. We also consider the situation when the number of points claimed by Maker grows at other speeds, in particular, when Maker claims tα points on his tth turn.

Optimized Pricing Decisions In a Multi-Level Supply Chain With Various Power and Channel Structures: A Game-Theoretic Approach
This article studies the optimization of pricing decisions in a supply chain with different channels under different power structure. Three different channel will be considered here; these include: the decentralized, the semi-integrated, and the integrated channel. There are two types of power balance structures for both the decentralized and the semi-integrated channels. The first type is a le...
متن کاملAn n-in-a-row Game
The usual n-in-a-row game is a positional game in which two player alternately claim points in Z with the winner being the first player to claim n consecutive points in a line. We consider a variant of the game, suggested by Croft, where the number of points claimed increases by 1 each turn, and so on turn t a player claims t points. Croft asked how long it takes to win this game. We show that,...
متن کاملIntrinsic vs. Extrinsic Motivation in an Interactive Engineering Game
In this paper, we study intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation in players playing an electrical engineering gaming environment. We used UNTANGLED, a highly interactive game to conduct this study. This game is developed to solve complex mapping problem from electrical engineering using human intuitions. Our goal is to find whether there are differences in the ways anonymous players solved electrical...

Two-Player (Normal-Form) Games. A two-player normal-form game is specified via a pair (R,C) of m × n payoff matrices. The two players of the game, called the row player and the column player, have respectively m and n pure strategies. As the players’ names imply, the pure strategies of the row player are in one-to-one correspondence with the rows of the payoff matrices, while the strategies of ...

Suppose $textbf{M}_{n}$ is the vector space of all $n$-by-$n$ real matrices, and let $mathbb{R}^{n}$ be the set of all $n$-by-$1$ real vectors. A matrix $Rin textbf{M}_{n}$ is said to be $textit{row substochastic}$ if it has nonnegative entries and each row sum is at most $1$. For $x$, $y in mathbb{R}^{n}$, it is said that $x$ is $textit{sut-majorized}$ by $y$ (denoted by $ xprec_{sut} y$) if t...
